I got a large sheet of it that is 1 1/8" thick. It was used as a backer on a wall in an office building to which was bolted all of the fuse boxes in 1909.
Bakelite was invented in 1907.

The Bakelite makes it an instant classic. Beautiful lines and design. What is the OAL if I might ask?

Still have a lot of learning to do, but this is my first foray into making folders.
My own Damascus, all hot-blued frame and springs - all parts made by me, except screws.

I'm curious where the bakelite came from? Did you have something that was made of bakelite and cut it down?
