Karl, how do you get the damascus effect? Do you do this or does the steel come this way. It is very nice looking. Also, how does damascus steel compare to other good carbon steels such as 01? My hunch is that it is harder. What is the story?

I read another post of yours and I think you have already answered my question.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

This is where a blade of Damascus begins its life:

As well, Damascus steel is made from two other steels of individually good quality. Each one capable of standing on its own.
