I have seen much bigger than the one pictures in the in the BWCA and quetico as well. They are around but in my experience anything over about 32" is an exceptional fish. Usually each year I take a two week northern river trip, fishing is usually great for pike and walleye, but no trout usually. Last year we changes things up and did two weeks in Quetico. We fish for trout about 6 of the days in early July and did well. Caught 93 with probably a 24" average and some lower 30's. This year I want to focus on lake trout for my two week trip and I've just been researching if WCPP would be the place to go. Plus getting further north usually means less people and more wild county .

I am starting to plan a trip or next summer. My wife and I do a two week trip each year. Often times it is river travel in Manitoba or Ontario. Last year we were in Quetico and caught lots of Lake Trout in the upper 20's and a few up to 32".
This year I have a bit of the Lake Trout Bug in planning our trip. I would really like to have a shot at a really big lake trout in the upper 30's or 40" range.
Does anyone have experience with the Lake Trout being bigger in WCPP than Quetico?
Any particular Lakes you would be willing to share that hold big trout.

Can’t really say how big they were on Wrist, but there were some large enough to break 10 lb test with ease. These were East of the north central islands. The southern part of the lake is VERY deep. Depth finder was pinging depths beyond 100 feet.
But you mentioned larger than Quetico ... I’ve caught lakers in Quetico that make the one pictured look like bait.

Same here. I didn't bother to measure this one, but (I think) it still swims in Aegean Lake in WCPP. I say "I think" because that was over a decade ago and caught in the large west bay and a bit south of where the cave is. I also had pretty good luck on Wrist on that trip ... and I'd say that the lakers were a bit larger there.

Thanks for the response. Both of the those lakes are on my list. I have heard good things on them. Of all lakes I have heard about trout in through my research I have heard very little about Trout size.
