Fire map shows a long burn about 4 km wide and ~25 km N-to-S. As you say, Paull, some of the smaller lakes north of there, the western side of Mexican Hat, the western lobe of Glenn lake and the far SW shore of Domain. If the map is accurate Hansen & the cottages on the eastern shore got missed by 500 meters. Rain coming... Ontario Fire Map |

Is there another person in that office who can fill her shoes and liaison with paddlers? |

sns: "Wow - Claire's retiring?!? Big news. There will never be another "Claire" for WCPP. Anyone who has ever tapped into her knowledge of WCPP knows that. I can't imagine anyone else coming along 'that will attain such a love and protective heart for Woodland Caribou P.P. |

sns: "Marten, your Domain Lake adventure made me want to go in years past, and I'd still like to find a way. I think that's the largest lake in the park with no portage, correct? I think you are right about it being the biggest with no portage access. There is an outpost fishing camp on it. That is why I think the best place to "be alone" is Walking Stick Lake in the NW. Adventuresome folks have found you can access this lake from Craven to to west if you do not mind hard work. As more walk the unmaintained routes it will become easier for everyone. My GPS tracks make it simple but one group went through a few years ago with just a paper map with where I had walked. They cleared down trees and said it was a fantastic trip. Goldseekers would have the details too. |

Well more of our playground is burning up due to the dry spring conditions. RED010 is currently 3200ha. It started 2 days ago on the south shore of Paull and has already marched north of Domain Lake. On the way it looks like it took out Lower Glenn but skirted Mexican Hat, but who knows. Let’s hope tomorrow’s rain knocks it down. |

Will be interesting to see what access through this new burn of the blowdown area is like... |
