Thanks for that update - some of that is in the most recent park brochure they gave me at the Expo. Nice to get it straight from the expert too.

boji...I thought you were doing wcpp to winipeg this year?"

No brother. I was always doing a Western Q loop in 2011 But my planning is well underway for the Bloodvein River run from WCPP.

I have ordered my WCPP Map and just requested the list of Manitoba topos that I will need.

I have got a couple of quotes for the Fly In from Winnipeg to Artery Lake (WCPP)

Working on the logistics of the boat ferry/Van Shuttle from Bloodvein Village (First Nation) to Matheson Island (Fly Out Point).

A bit complicated for the first time but I should have "cracked the code" for those that want to know how to do it. So, I will be starting an additional thread "Bloodvein" under this group once I have my info in order, since they are sort of related. The Bloodvein River is a must do!

I had the chance to visit w/ Claire Que during the recent Midwest Mtneering Expo, and thought I would pass on a few updates for those that may not be aware of them.

1) The fly-in restrictions planned to be in effect beginning July 1, 2011 have been postponed until at least next year. This means that one can fly-in or out using any lake that can acomodate a floatplane.

2) The campsite inventory project is expected to take several more seasons to complete. This means that one can camp anywhere, but the preference is to use previously established campsites.

3) For those interested in pictograph and other points of interest, there is no map available that will show their locations. However, if one stops in their Red Lake office, they will reveal the locations following a spiel on the spiritual and cultural significance of such sites.

4) Prior to beginning your trip, it is recommended that you visit the WCPP page on Solotripping.com for updates regarding access road conditions, fire danger/restrictions, bugs, etc . She updates this on a regular basis during the season.
