Frenchy, feel free to drop me a line or give me a call and I'd be happy to discuss some options for you.

Please keep in mind the Callan book should be viewed as a "general guide" and there may be some discrepancies with the landscape in 2012 compared to when it was written. Last summer I had 2 groups that used this book as the tool for planning their trip and they were less than thrilled when the trip was over.

Up here, the land changes all the time due to fire, blowdown and other factors.

Take Harlan's offer and talk to him. Leano seems to be a magnet for first timers. It's a great route(s) and lots of possibilities. Not sure what your "book" tells you to do, but looking at the map it lured me for my first trip with the looks of a good BW adventure. Since going I read of several people doing the same trip and was usually their first to WCPP. One was in the BWJ a couple years ago.

A friend and I are going to WWCP for the first time this July. We will have 8-10 days to paddle, and we are considering going into Leano, although that is open for negotiation. We've read the Callan book chapter on the WWCP sampler route, hence the idea to enter into Leano, but again, we are open to suggestions. Plan on moving most days with maybe 1 or 2 layover days, would like to see some pictographs and, of course, land a few fish.
