Nice report. Looks like you had a good time. Brought back memories of many of those lakes that you visited. (If you get back in the area again, you might want to drop by the picto's on South Aegean. Not as dramatic as those of north Hansen, but better than those on Paull or the SW Hansen arm.)

BTW: The outpost on Hansen is owned by a group out of Iowa. It was originally owned by members of the Chicago "Mob" and the original structures were built by members of the First Nation. They also ran the facilities for the first couple of years of operation. When the mob decided to bring in their own staff, the "natives" decided to burn the structures. I was invited into one of the cabins by one of the owners who graciously shared a few of the original photos.

Like you, I'm planning another visit to WCPP (my 4th).

Glad to hear you enjoyed WCPP. A new map should be out for next year and that would have saved you some frustrations. The Haven to Gulch portage was moved since the map was published. The same for the Leano exit portage. The park can E-mail a sheet with changes until the new map is out.

By your ongoing people tally I assume you are seeking more solitude. Check out the area between the Gammon and Bloodvein rivers. The new Irvine Loop canoe route will be on the new map. One friend that has been on six trips of one week each has only run into one other canoe party up there.

new info and portage changes here:
