Well, I'm gone, turning off the computer for a couple of weeks. Hoping to bring back lots of good stories.

I came out on the 18th of June and the bugs were not bad at all. We just had a few skeets in the early morning and late evening. Otherwise, the critters were pretty tame. If you go in at Onnie, you will likely see the most bugs of the trip there. The first 100 yards or so is over a boardwalk that spans a marshy area ... perfect habitat for bugs! BTW: There are supposed to be blue walleye in the section between Onnie and Hjlarmar lakes ... I don't think they go as far as Telescope (but Telescope has some nice lakers).

Anticlimatic? Yeah, but I think it is more of a function of the 2 day drive it takes to get there. Once on the water and I can feel the knots in my shoulders start to loosen, its a little slice of heaven.

Hope you have a great trip!

Your feeling of a letdown is just the lull between finishing the planning and packing and that first paddle dip. Once in the water you will feel great!

I blew my shot at WCPP last year and feel a bit jealous of all those who get to go. <:(

Planning and packing are all done, food dehydrator is packed away. Good food waiting to be eaten. Still haven't decided for sure to put in either at Johnson Lake, or Lake Onnie. Will depend upon when we get up there. Should be on the lake Thursday noon or early afternoon.

This will be a 10 day trip, with some layover days for fishing, and relaxing. I'm wondering about the bugs, but have a lot of repellent along plus a head net. Weather forecast for the near future looks warm and hot.

Been planning this trip since January, and now that it's here, it seems anticlimactic. I'm not as excited about going as I was just a week or so ago. Does anyone else get this type of feeling? I know once I'm on the road or on the water, I'll feel differently, or at least I hope so. This has never happened to me so, there is a big question mark?

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July

I trust you have been checking what routes have been cleared from last Oct.s snow damage. A lot of the regular routes are clean but this year back-country travel has to be dropped from the plans.
