VaderStrom	05/31/2017 07:42AM   So, after a little experimenting, I think I've found the best method for now. It only fits my solo, but that should be good enough. I can extend it if I want to later. The back side is just a cheap plastic shelf with a saw horse on top.
VaderStrom	05/24/2017 07:43AM   Hi All. I posted this same message in general discussion but then realized this might be the more appropriate venue for it. I recently moved into a new apt complex with a place on the top floor so I can't walk my canoes in through the front door anymore. I have a great parking spot in the underground garage with plenty of room above my car. So...I'm wondering if any of you have plans, advice or tips for building a free standing canoe stand for my Advantage so I can store it and get it to the lake quick after work. I live only a mile or two from Bryant and Shady Oak Lake. Clarification, I have one pillar to the side of my car that I could maybe ratchet the front end stand to for support. The back stand would, however, need to be completely free standing but could lean up against the wall. Thanks for any ideas in advance. I'll try to post a picture so you can see what I'm working with.
billconner	05/24/2017 12:38PM   No way to anchor pulleys over? That would seem to be easiest.
VaderStrom	05/24/2017 01:35PM   It is an apartment garage with a concrete roof so there is no option to make any holes for pulleys.
Oisinirish	05/24/2017 06:30PM   How about a couple upside down u-shaped frames made of 4x4's and then two 2x4's for side framing and one "rafter" the length between the u-frames and attach pulleys. Maybe make it tall enough it wedges between floor and ceiling?

Congratulations ! Jim" Thanks Jim. I did in fact just use what was on hand. It was from the last canoe rack I had in my apartment. I thought if I used both brackets it'd be possible to make it longer to add my tandem canoe.
1JimD	05/31/2017 06:21PM   Great solution. The front bracket could have been made with just another short piece of 2x4, angle cut, at 45* angle, and a few deck screws, but I'm guessing you used what you had available. Anyway . Congratulations ! Jim
