Nice, going to add this to my kit! Could also hold hooks/lures as you switch them. And of course, play catch.

It is harder to find them these days, but tyvek FedEx/UPS/USPS envelopes make nice stuff sacks. Fold the bottom flat (or not), fold the top down an inch or so for a drawstring channel. Secure both with packing tape or duct tape. Perfect size for my tarp, my hammock or my food bag rope.

For a lure / fly holder I use a 8" pc. Of a swim noodle. Just cut a slit in it!

Nice looking straps. I added premade ones since I didnt know what I was doing when I made mine;

I modified #10 canvas instead of Cordura. I plan on making "wrap covers" for mine that will slide on and be sewn at the ends to cover up the ugly. I will say ALICE pack straps will take a lot of weight comfortably.

THanks. I used some salvaged from a school backpack for my prototypes. These are just a "tube". Next time Ill put a little something inside to keep them from getting twisted so easily.

I did this with the intent to post the MYOG instructions but have not gotten around to posting yet. Id email them if someone is interested.

Nice packs. Sewing up a pack is on my list of things I want to make.

3 uses for green balls !
1. Use it as a weight to throw over a limb you can not reach. Tie a string to it, fill it with stones, and toss. Once over the limb, tie your rope or chord to it, and pull it over.

2. Put it on the end of a stick to hold your tarp up with out damage to the tarp.

3. Tie it to your canoe seat , stuff your cut off fishing line in it.

4. Attach you hook remover to it. It floats.

I used string so you could see it. I get tennis balls at play it again sports (10 cents each)

My favorite was tuning a Sawyer mini squeeze into a gravity filter. Works better than both commercial gravity filters I've used and is way cheaper $40. Also love the fact that I can take it apart and Bangladesh it, and have it together again in 2 minutes.

What's your favorite DIY gear modification? I'm just starting to tinker, so the insulated insert is my favorite thus far. But it got me thinking I should ask you for productive ideas.

Please add photos if you have them.

I like the idea of using a tennis ball with a string to get the food bag rope over a limb. I normally just tie the food bag rope to a rock and throw the rock over. Dodging the rock after it comes back around, or after it's deflected by the limb, is crucial :)

The ability to re-purpose the tennis ball for other tasks is just an added bonus!

Thanks for the tip Miketheflyguy1
