Great idea I'll have to see about making a couple up.

Not to steal your thunder, but I've been using "Snow and Sand Anchors" for years. Several other similar designs area available (e.g., REI). Drop a rock or log in the pouch area and 'biner or tie it to the corner of the tent. (I guess it works for sand and snow also). One advantage I've found for this is that you can use it effectively when the corner of your tent is near a ledge drop-off.

Now the trick is to combine the 2 ideas and come up with a high-bred.

dd" No thunder... no problem. There may even be something out there already that is just like what I made, but the whole idea is to post something about a usable item that folks can make for themselves, whether it be the one that you posted, or the one that I posted. The difference between the two is that once the biner is snapped onto the stake loop on this one, you can place the rock on the pad and on the biner as well to put down pressure on the stake loop, as a tent stake would. I suppose that either one could be used that way. I did consider making something with a pocket and an adjustable strap to draw the rock right up to the stake loop but decided I would try this first.

A certain gear maker who posts here had some of these 'rock flaps' sewn on a shelter that I saw in a photo, and I thought it was a great idea. So many times there are good tent pads that are a bit hard, or impossible to put tent pegs down. The flaps would simply be flipped out from underneath to place a rock on. Since I have no desire to sew these on all of my shelters, I chose to make some that clip on each stake loop when/where needed. An easy project for anyone who has a sewing machine. I used some recycled boat cover fabric, that for most may be a little sturdier than needed, but I wanted them to be strong enough for my bigger shelters. I made 8 at 1.5 oz. each, that I will just bring along and use when needed. Much easier and faster than tying sticks and rocks on. These flaps are 8" X 12" finished.

I like it. it follows the kiss theory. I may add a grommet hole on the far end, just in case some rope needs to be attached to it for that roundish rock. thanks for sharing.
