I did not make a cover but have bought and installed 2 CCS covers, on Wenonah Moccassin and Advantage. Modified the 1/8 inch rivet head by grinding it to a cone so it fits inside the snap. 3/8 inch rivets worked on my Kevlar UL hull with a backing washer. You may need longer depending on the backup washer used. 24 snaps, 14 front section 10 rear section. butthead |

I'm researching the materials I'm going to need for making my own spray deck for my canoe. It is Kevlar/gelcoat boat and I'm wondering if the 3/8 stem (see link below) will be long enough to install the snaps on the outside of my canoe similar to how they're installed on the CCS canoe covers? Will I need to find special longer stemmed backs for the snaps? Also, will 24 on each side be enough for my 16 foot Wenonah Advantage? That'd be one every 8 inches. Too many? stainless steel snaps - amazon |
