I haven't done much video up there either, but I would think that some scenes are naturals: during paddling - both what's ahead and ones of folks in the canoe while underway, some fighting fish, BSing around the fire, along portages, some wildlife floating or strolling by... Also, interview the crew a bit; we get so caught up in the natural beauty around us that we often forget to capture the voices of the people along with us. All of these require a bit of planning re equipment needed to keep the shot still and the equipment secure, i.e. RAM Mount stuff, mini tripods, etc. Sometimes you miss the everyday mundane stuff that make up a trip: cooking, hammock time, setting up a tent, etc that make for good fillers. Often, I think that it's judicious editing that makes an entertaining video... rather than the full 20 minutes in one shot along a portage, etc.

So, I am wondering, when you are planning to make a video of your canoe trip, do you have some scenes in mind before your trip, or do you just shoot whatever happens, then put the video together? Have not done a canoe trip video before, but are planning to give it a whirl this spring. Any input would be appreciated.
