Whoa- there are Eaglebrookers in the house! I started this forum several years ago and forgot about it and bwca.com for a long time (years). Just signed in today and saw that people still find the forum useful- nice! I sort of knew Bob Merritt a long time ago. His dad was a pastor in my home town in Pennsylvania. I spent some time working at Bethel and saw him around on and off. I'm looking for books so I might grab this one.

Does Eaglebrook have any kind of affinity group associated with the bwca? When I was a young adult (about 40 years ago) canoe trips to the bwca were a big annual event. In my 60s now with a body that has been sort of a fixer upper so I generally go in and out and stay at our family's cabin on McFarland (entry 68). I've often thought that hosting a little ministry from that cabin might be rewarding. If you have an idea let me know.

Yeah, I saw the story on the news about Eaglebrook. Been there, know people from there, but live on the west side of town.

Strange that a church of 21000 doesn't have people somewhere who connect for canoe tripping. We were horribly illegal back in the mid to late 70s when our church young adults took an annual canoe trip. I think the first year I went we had three permits for 24 people and camped separately but often paddled together and ate together. Someone brought along a guitar and we would gather around the fire for a devotional and a few songs each night. There was an empty unlocked cabin left in one of the bwca lakes off the gunflint and on a rainy day the whole gang of us took shelter there. The rangers came by, apparently thought we were well behaved, and left us alone. My fiance, an experienced paddler, was on that trip and almost dumped me because she did not think I was a proper rudder for her boat :). I'm still the rudder 37 years later so it worked out okay.

Love Jason Strand! Kind of wish they'd bring back Jason Anderson, but I guess Jon Alexander is good too.... I love anytime his wife is the lead worship pastor. She has vocals that are unmatched!

Going to Easter on Thursday night at Lino - you?

What do you like to read in the backcountry?"
Awesome always nice to hear from a fellow Eaglebrooker. The service by Jason Strand this past weekend was awesome, he has a very good sense of humor !

Thank you for starting this forum tobie it is great. Small world on the Eaglebrook thing huh, although its the largest church in Minnesota now. I dont believe there is an official fishing ministry or camping ministry there. My buddy Jim was thinking about starting one at Eaglebrook he used to have one at Living word before he and his wife came to Eaglebrook. One of my coworkers went to school at Bethel with Bob Merrit
