About 5 years ago I attended a 3 day spiritual retreat weekend. During this weekend retreat a few of the things that were emphasized were daily devotion, meditation and prayer as well as a personnel bible study schedule. As a result of this retreat I am part of group of 5 men that meet once a week that could be termed an accountability group. It is more than just friends gathering to talk. We hold each other accountable for our faith walk. The 3 day retreat itself is an intense workout to get yourself in great spiritual shape.

A lot of my quiet time is spent in the evening in a part of the house where I'm not going to be disturbed. There I read and pray and just wait and listen.
There are other things that I do as well but in the winter time that is what I do most.

Yeah, there's nothing like being alone with God in the woods and water! I'm a little spoiled because I married into cabin property 100 yards from an entry point. So, I head up there each August and kind of get my vision for the next year (I work in higher education). God has always been faithful by giving me something to hold on to for the next year.

40 days, nctry! Wow, can you tell us more about that?

What feeds your spiritual side? I used to have work that allowed me to take time to journal after reading My Utmost for His Highest, Jesus Calling and a chapter of Scripture. I still get to down a cup of coffee with the readings but try to pray in the car. That sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

What do you do?

My morning quiet time in the Word and prayer is important. And my solo trips where I spend a lot of time doing the same usually end up being pretty powerful experiances to me. My 40 day at the end of the season I expect to be very special and uplifting.

at the end of the day after the kids are in bed I try to spend some time in the Bible. Other wise I pray all day long.. praying for patience praying for wisdom, praying as soon as I hear a prayer request. I try to pray without ceasing.

I feel most connected to God when I'm in the woods down by the river. That's when my prayer life is really deep. However a lot of that time I have kids along, so it can't be as deep with them around because I'm to busy watching out for them

Daily Prayer with my wife. "Where two or more of you are gathered, etc." If we can keep in prayer daily - makes a world of difference.

Getting to church as often as I can (work shifts).
