mfl1776: "pswith5: "Hey Matt, I too have a hard time getting partners to commit. Son says he wants tie go mid May but just started new job. Maybe I will see if he is in or out, then get back to you. I am a few years your senior but in decent shape. Been wanting to do a cherokee loop. Got as far as south temperance a few years ago but turned around for a reason I cant remember. I would likely prefer a group solo idea. Have actually used the trip partner finder forum a few times now. Pete"

Thanks, Pete. Let's stay in touch re: our respective plans. I'm close to convincing my wife to go but if that doesn't work out, I would definitely be open to a group solo. "
there are some threads on what not to say when trying to get wife to go. Also , some ideas for making trip more comfortable

As was the case last year, I am without any willing trip partners for my planned May/June trip out of Sawbill. I don't want to miss out again. Was planning on doing the Cherokee loop clockwise Monday to Friday. Originally was thinking of first week of June (3rd-7th) but am open to a May trip if that will increase my chances of avoiding the dreaded blackflies. Unfortunately, b/c of my work situation, I cannot go any later in the season.

I'm not quite confident enough or comfortable with going solo just yet, though I may end up doing that. I am looking for people to travel/camp/fish with, either "group-solo" or "group-group" or whatever. I am open to other EP's. I'm flying into Duluth from NC so I will need to rent a canoe and camping gear. So wherever I go in, there will need to be an outfitter nearby, which I'm sure there is everywhere. I will be renting a car, btw, so I won't be asking anyone for a lift.

I am most interested in fishing but also like to keep moving most days. Not terribly experienced; this would only be my second BW trip and I'm not the most seasoned paddler. Still, I'm in good shape (or will be by then), have a great sense of humor, consider myself accommodating and flexible, and always up for adventure.

Would love to chat with interested parties.

-Matt

I’ve gone solo the last two years ep 37&16. Retired but driving a school bus so I prefer to after June 5. Intrigued because I have a daughter now living in Chapel Hill doing post doc work at Duke and teaching there. Planning to do more trips to NC so perhaps a reciprocal vacation might be possible.
