My trip starting starting early in morning on Sunday, June 21 from Indianapolis seems to be falling apart because of two or three people canceling out. But there are still two or three of us ready to go, and we would be happy to have another one or two join us, especially a fisherman. Our permit is for entry at Kawishiwi Lake (EP 37) on Monday, June 22. We have reservations at VNO in Ely on night of June 21. We plan to go up to Malberg Lake, basecamp there for four nights, and spend the last night near the EP on Kawishiwi Lake. We plan to do some half day loop excursions from our base on Malberg, but you could stay and fish instead. We will be paddling out on morning of Saturday, June 27 and driving home that day and night. My trips are very inexpensive because I dehydrate meals in advance (already done), and have a source up there for 18.5 ft. Alumnacraft canoes for $7.00 a day including a trailer, paddles, and PFDs. We travel light, carry heavy SeaLine 115L Pro Packs on back and a lumbar pack in front, and single portage. I provide all the food and snacks and we share chores. I have all the gear we need. I usually do the five night trips for $250.00 per person, including transportation and bunkhouse night the before. If you are interested, send me a private message to talk more.
