I had one, and tested it out. It was plenty comfy once I was in, but felt it took a bit of effort to get in. Might have been easier if I wasn’t 5’3”. Then again, my tall (closer to 6’) friend got in and almost flipped out on her head.
Honestly, I wasn’t concerned about the tarp. I did like the setup for comfort, but wasn’t the easiest for me for a few reasons.

I've been a tent camper (and ground dweller) since I started camping, but I'm interested in trying hanging. I've been thinking about getting one of the new Amok Draumr hammocks and tarp. Do any members here have experiences or opinions they'd like to share regarding the Draumr? It gets good reviews and the only negative I can see is the weight, but that isn't much of an issue for me as a canoe camper.

i agree with tom, a bridge may be a better fit for you, the amok is large, takes quite a bit of an area to set up.

I did watch the Shug video and I still think the Draumr is pretty neat. I’m a bit concerned about the tarp issue but the comments I’ve read on a hammocking forum all seem to be very positive about the whole setup. I’ve already got an Exped Downmat 9 lw and just ordered an EE 20-degree quilt to replace an older synthetic bag, so I won’t have to sink a ton of extra $$ in the Draumr if that’s the way I end up going.

well, Shug posted a positive youtube about them, so there's that ;-)
but...I would be concerned that there is a lack of 'interoperability' with these hammocks and all of the accessory gear (underquilts, suspension options, tarps, pads, catchalls, etc) available from other cottage vendors. You may be locking yourself into a long term relationship with Amok, and product availability may be problematic.
also, the weight would really preclude it from being a great hiking option if you ever wanted to backpack with it.
finally - going to ground may be more challenging - not usually a problem in the BW.
