MidwestFirecraft: "Looks great. Unfamiliar with making your own hammock. Only seen dyneema for the suspension. Is that zing it?"
No it’s Kevlar tree huggers attached to a 7/64 Amsteel whoopie sling and continuous loop I made.

Interesting, doesn't look like any Amsteel I have seen before. Very cool!

The orange dangling things are the rope I used to Gather and whip the ends. They’ve been trimmed.

Oh, that makes sense, my bad. I switched to a bridge hammock but my daughter really likes the Blackbird XLC gathered end, except that she really wants to have the foot pocket on the left so I may be following your steps soon and trying my hand at making a "left handed" hammock.

If you want to reverse the lay direction on the BB XLC you just kinda “flip it over”—maybe a couple steps to get the bug netting and shelf switched right ways too but not hard. Pretty sure on the WB web site the video for the BB XLC talks about how to do it. I would watch that 5 minute video before you build another hammock from scratch.

Will be sleeping in it on next weeks trip. This one is extra wide and long :). Just need a stuff sack and a couple ridge line sacks. Will do those tomorrow.
