FYI...tyvek envelopes from FedEx or USPS are free and you can cut them open and use the sealer to tape them together. It makes for a nice little mat to put shoes, feet, pack etc.
Can't beat the price!

Like RainGearRight mentioned, if your concern is bringing dirt and such inside the hammock, a small piece of plastic as a ground cloth would work. In fact, this year, I re-purposed an older family size tent just for that. It was a 10x12. Cut it lengthwise and provided me with a nice ground cloth to stand on, set my gear on all the while keeping the dirt and such off. Another thing you could do is a small piece of house warp, Tyvex. Quite a few people that hang use that stuff.

I tried changing clothes one time and it did not work very well. I get changed outside now. Never have any bugs get into the bugnet during entering/exiting.

Ive been wearing contacts do long I could put them in with my toes so I never really worry about them. I guess I take them out/put in while kinda leaning into my WBBB with the netting over my head. As for changing clothes, I sleep in the same thing every night. Those clothes stay in my hammock durning the day. Strip down and put them on, jump in hammock. You can stand on a pack or a small piece of plastic to keep you feet clean before getting in.
As long as you have insulation, a tarp and bug protection you'll do just fine! Enjoy and take some pictures to post here later.

Heading out August 5 for my first hang while camping. Thanks for all the insight and encouragement. My mates are skeptical, but I've tried to anticipate everything and not freak out about anything. Can't wait.

Does anyone change clothes in the hammock, or change contact lenses? I always like changing my lenses in a protected area so the wind doesn't catch them and they don't fall on the ground. Also, have you found that bugs get in when you do? I'm pretty quick getting in an out, but I'm used to a tent.

I would have my thermals and thick socks rolled up and used as a pillow, changed into them the few nights it got cold. Not as easy as standing and changing, but still get er done.
Never had an issue with bugs getting in as the netting kept them out.
I did manage to drop some of my pills one night. Of course they worked their way down under the sleeping bag. Had a heck of a time trying to get em all lol.

Treat it with Permethrin and forget about the bugs.
