quote Bwoods: "I never really thought much about falling in the middle of the night, now I will check a little more thoroughly underneath for hazards. I pulled the trigger on the Hennessey Expedition Deluxe got it for $130 after my return on the ENO it only cost me $50 to upgrade. Now to find a new home for my ENO bug net and ENO tarp. Might list them on here after waiting to hear back from my buddy. "

I would be interested in the screen if you decide to sell it. I have a Clark that i use for actual camping but also have the double nest for lounging around the camper. Email me if you end up parting with it.

This is why you always check for debris, rocks and especially pungee sticks from where other hangers have cut brush. I've seen some dangerous situations out there, especially where sites have started to see hammock use.
People cut a stick or a piece of brush under a hammock spot, not thinking of the hazard it creates if a piece of equipment fails.

quote Bwoods: "SO I was in my hammock this weekend and it split right in the center from side to side in the middle of the night. Talk about a rude awakening. It was an ENO double nest from REI so it's going back and I expect a full refund. My question is what to upgrade to, I was already planning on getting something a bit nicer. I am looking closely at henesey because I can get them at wholesale through Liberty Mountain with my camp account. Can't spend much $$$ now. I am a big guy at 300 lbs, do you think I should go for it? Any other suggestions on a tight budget? I am scared that this may happen again on a solo without a friends tent for backup.

I already have suspension, tarp, and bug net covered. I currently use my exped for insulation when needed, but plan on upgrading to underquilt for Fall. "

Glad you were not seriously injured. That's a rude way to wake up.

Thanks for the advice. My limited budget and quickly upcoming trip made me go with the Hennessey. Wish I had more time and more money to spend.

Yeah it sucked! Thankfully my pad cushioned the fall but the rocks underneath me and the slope made the next few hours before sunrise pretty uncomfortable. I could have gotten up and moved but it started raining and I had some shelter from the tarp and remains of the hammock around me. The deluxe is my leading choice right now. Hoping my buddy with a double nest will buy my accessories since the Hennessey comes with everything I already have.

wow - that sounds like it sucked!

I am a big guy (6' 4" and just under 300 lbs) and have been using a Hennessey for 8 years or so and it hasn't let me down yet! I have their biggest one (Explorer Deluxe or something like that).

GET THE HENNESSY "SAFARI" IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, I BELIEVE IT'S THEIR LARGEST/STRONGEST MODEL. I'M 6'3 260 LBS AND LOVE MINE.
