quote SourisMan: "I'd bring the longer ones. There are trees everywhere, but also lots of brush that gets in the way. The longer straps will give you more hanging options." That. And stumps. You don't want to be hanging over a stump when you can help it |

I'm an avid hanger already, although it's hard here in Nebraska - finding trees here is a challenge. Most sites have trees too big, too spread out, or none. I look with envy at those on the coasts... Anyway, how is the tree selection in the BWCA? Should I bring my 10' straps, or can I get away with the stock 42" ones? The boy scout in me says to be prepared, but it's more weight... We're dropping in on Duncan, and heading back to Gunflint (Bearskin->Duncan->Rose->Rat->South->North->Gunflint) Thanks! |

That being said, how much weight are you saving by using the stock straps and would the extra onces(I'm guessing it's not lbs) keep you from single portaging? |
