A question for you experienced hangers... I try to hang my hammock with my feet a bit higher as suggested. But I find myself slipping down toward to foot end. Was is Itasca recently, the first night I woke up so far down I couldn't hardly reach the head end to pull myself back. I had adjusted the foot end up a couple of times, yet still found myself sliding down some.

What's the formula? Just keep going until I stop sliding? Eyeballing it,looked about 8-10 inches higher on the foot end.

Thanks for your help! I'll be going out again in October...

There is a fine line between sliding to the foot end and having the blood rush to your head. I have my foot end slightly higher, plus sleeping at an angle solves a lot of the slide issues.

8-10 seems too high, drop it down, you should be fine.

My experience is that there is no right way. Keep fooling with it until you are comfortable. What works for the 5' 300lb guy won't work for the 6'3" 185lb guy.

Hammock width and material contribute to this slide as well. Hopefully you are using a structural ridgeline - this will help with some of the variability. Good luck.

I agree to just keep fiddling with it. When I first hung my daughter I had her at the same angle and height that I hang at, and she woke up a few times at the foot end. A couple adjustments on her foot end and now she's hanging like a pro.

I agree with what the others have stated about fiddling with the setup. The first time I hung I ended up in the foot of the hammock. The next few hangs I had the foot end too high and would wake up with all the blood in my head. Now I have the foot end a few inches higher and it's perfect. You will get it dialed in with practice.

Thanks guys, I'll keep fiddling with it. My Clark isn't as conducive to sleeping at an angle as others I don't think...
