Is that an extension cord running off into the trees? ;)

My coldest hang was 15 degrees, although I camped at colder temps when growing up in Minnesota.

If anybody is eager to get out, you are welcome to join us for the fourth annual Frosty Butt Hang at Merchants Millpond State Park in northeastern North Carolina on February 2nd through 5th. Its primarily a bunch of hangers but ground dwellers are welcome.

My coldest was 27 degrees. I am looking for the right night to try a bit colder...maybe down to 20. In Indiana, so that is a typical winter overnight temp.

Anyone else planning on a winter hang? Definitely a challenge last night!

I did a trial last weekend when it was -20F in my back yard
I woke up 2 hours later, maybe if I hadn't been facing the house and could see the nice warm inside thru the frosty windows I would have stayed out there
it was too easy to wimp out, it took me about 15 minutes to decide there was no reason to stay out there with a nice warm bed inside
lessons learned will help for when I don't have the option of a warm bed 50 feet away

This Winter wasn't very good for "Winter" camping except for a few days. Of those days, I was camping for none of them. I'd say this year the coldest it got was 24 degrees. The coldest I have even hammock camping in was 5 degrees.
