Dogs eat poop lake water is just fine. Never have to filter anything or bring dishes for them. Eat on a rock, drink from the lake!

If I’m portaging at a beaver dam or mucky area I have discouraged them, but most portages and in camp they have been fine drinking from the lake. Would be pretty tough to stop them.

What do you do about the dog drinking lake water? Do you let them? Have any of your dogs ever had problems with water pathegnins? Our last 2 dogs we never thought about it. They always drank out of the lakes and never had any issues.

My dog drinks lake water all the time. I never think twice about it. Never any issues. Dogs have very different digestive systems than us.

Your dog can still get giardia, but I don't know how you'd keep them from drinking lake water. They can get lepto too, but that at least you can vaccinate for.
