Jeff,

As I recall, that was the best spot. Of course on that particular trip, we always wanted to be setup reasonably close to the fire so we could sit up at night & still hear if Aurora was crying etc. (plus we got there late)so we didn't fully scout out the surrounding area for other tent pads.

There were other areas near the large boulders but, they weren't quite as level or rock/root free. Still workable pads though.

As a side note: We didn't know it at the time. (TomT brought it to my attention in the comments section of the trip report) But, there are two pictographs on the huge rock Aurora is standing in front of. Apparently they are the 2 palm prints in the lighter colored strip (mid boulder)running just above her right shoulder. If you blow the picture up you can see them.

TB-- is there other spots to erect a tent?? From your video I didn't spot any ,, I usually don't like being that close to the fire. An area I wanna hit sometime.
Great stuff...

Aurora in front of the big rock is unreal. IF most understood exactly how remote that is for a child of that age--- it should win photography contests!!!
