Looks pretty good, similar to pot roast we have made with beef roast, potatoes, carrots, onion, and cabbage. A variation on the plain recipe involves adding cream of mushroom soup and dry French onion soup mix. The two soups variation works really well with venison too.

what better thing to do on a snowy day than to make a roaster full of beef stew from scratch! only one hiccup.. I forgot to buy potatoes at the grocery store so I threw in some rutabaga. not sure if that is an apples to apples substitution. the sauce is golden mushroom soup (not homemade, but it IS Campbell's), assorted spices and a secret ingredient.

the total sodium from the soup is 1500mg so I didn't add any extra salt, and I used 1/2 cabbage so didn't add extra pepper. it's been baking 4 hours and should be ready about 5pm... can't wait!!!

Beef stew pairs nicely with peanut butter on bread and a tall glass of milk. and i'll have lots of leftovers for the week!
