nofish: "How is an outfitter to know who lives in what household?

Maybe the group of 4 guys in their 50's all live in a half way house together after being released from prison.

Maybe the group of 9 live in a hippie commune together.

Maybe its not a group of scouts. Maybe its 2 same sex partners and their 7 adopted children.

"

Don't ask, don't tell. Unless some part of the order compels outfitters or anybody else to ask that question, I don't think they should even concern themselves with it.

My outfitter told me that our party of four can stay in the bunkhouse, but wasn't sure if they could rent canoes due to the "single household" reference in the MN order. I would have though that only applied to the dispersed camping which the USFS stated they were not enforcing since permits don't allow more than 10 to a site.

Are parties from different households getting equipment?

Be fair to the outfitters. They could be risking their cooperator status if they violate FS rules.

2nd - now is not the time for shenanigans. Everyone is doing their best out there."

What Forest Service rule is anyone suggesting violating?

Find a different outfitter.

They were concerned with the "single household" reference in the dispersed camping definition. They got the green light since you can social distance on a canoe. The only requirement is masks are required on the tow boat ride. So all is good.

I was going to tell them we all got kicked out of the house and now living together. Was just wondering if anyone else heard this concern from an outfitter. Sounds like it won't be a problem as I assume what one outfitter is doing they will all follow suit. Not leaving until early June. Thanks for the input.
