It was really warm at the end of The Gunflint Trail on Thursday. I had been camping there since the 28th when the high was 45 degrees and the low 28. I bailed on the trip 5 days early because an 11 year old Beagle I got last August was stressed with heat and deer flies.
Fishing was getting better but it was a fun week until the heat wave heat hit. Thankful there was no severe weather. I would have spent time in the lake had I not had Bandit. He doesn’t like to swim or get wet. He likes cool weather and really came alive when we got into Grand Marais yesterday where it was in the 50s.

Was not expecting heat like that.

And as for the heat wave, it is bad and will be around for days! yikes, high fire danger warnings are posted.

We used take a friend's old pup on base camp trips and put a child life jacket her. She would swim along side of us and liked the water once she figured out it was sort of relaxing.
