Entry Point 60 - Duncan Lake

Duncan Lake entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Gunflint Ranger Station near the city of Grand Marais, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 30 miles. Access is from W. Bearskin Lake with a 75-rod portage to Duncan Lake and Stairway Portage. This area was affected by blowdown in 1999.

nice leisurely trip. did you check out any of the sites on Rose or South as you made your way in the first day or out your last day?
any photos? sounds like you and your gal went home refreshed from your time in the woods.

Nice report, brought back some memories from last year when we went from gunflint lake to South and exiting @ bearskin. Thinking we might have stayed at the same camp sight on South.

Sorry...I've been a bad steward of my trip report!


Mocha....we paddled by the site on Rose nearest the portage....it was taken...but it looked really nice. On South we stopped at the site south of the portage from Rat....It's an adequate site....but not something I would stay in unless I had to. I also took a nap at the campsite north of the portage to Topper...one of the best naps ever...not a great campsite though!

KTorell...the campsite was number 607 on the map....it offered us everything we needed for this trip!
