Haven't used much of the functionality yet, but I will comment on a couple of points. First is the reception: I haven't found a spot where I can't get reception. I've gotten reception everywhere in the field and in buildings. The other point I can comment on from experience is the unit being waterproof. While I was hunting, I fell through the ice. It wasn't too deep, but I got the unit wet. The temperatures being what they were, the water froze within a short while. It still worked just fine, even after all of that.

I started with a Legend HC but found that it did not have enough memory for me. I upgraded to the Etrex Vista HCx. All the functions are basically the same. The only problem I can forsee with it is that it does not float. As far as being waterproof I have gotten mine wet many times, dampness and rain-days and days of both. It never stopped working but the screen did get a little hazy. Overall I am happy with it.
