Is Your Food Pack Safe? (Take 2)

Tuscarora campsite. Now that's more like it!

Tempestuous Tuscarora Breakfast

Quite pleasant in the lee of the rock and warmed by the sun. Wild berry buckwheat pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup. Yum!

Blown Away By My Buckwheat Pancakes

Cooking buckwheat wild berry pancakes in the wind. Note the rocks wedging the skillet on the grate and holding the lids down. And of course the spatula holster.

Getting Organized

Packing up at Tuscarora camp to prepare for an early start.

Is Your Food Pack Safe From Bears?

Did our sides split from laughing? First night - Snipe campsite.

Lunch in the Lee of the Canoe

Too windy for a fire - used the canoe as a windbreak to light the stove. Created a protected cove to sit and soak up the sun.

Tucked in the Trees

Safe from the breeze!

Snipe Camp 554

No fire in this grate tonight!

Blue Sky and Blustery Wind

Snipe Camp 554

Snipe Alley 2

One last moment of calm before we battle the wind again!

Ham Lake Portage 2

Second set of clothes in one hour and still smiling!

Cross River Portage

Getting dressed after fishing Annie's sunglasses out of 5 ft of water.

Good Omen

What a way to start our trip!

The Early Bird Catches the Moose

Heading to the Cross River entry we had a staring contest with this guy. Maybe he liked our Kevlar antlers!

Tuscarora Early Start

Finally on day four calm weather!

Moose on Gillis

Fishing in the bay just north of camp before heading out on our last day. This guy swam all the way across Gillis and past our canoe.

Crooked Lake Calm

Crooked Lake fire damage. Campsites looked forsaken.

Little Sag Camp 812

Little Sag Camp View

View from camp 812. I caught a 36" Northern Pike right off the north shore just west of camp.

Mora to Little Sag

We took shelter under a small overhang in the rock wall at the start of this portage to put on our rain gear.
