Monday, September 2, 2013: I sleep in later this morning and have breakfast at Duluth Grill. I hit the road by mid-morning and drive Skyline Drive in Duluth before heading north for a 12:30 lunch meeting with Inspector13 (Steve) and Puffin Gin (Ginny) at the Rustic Inn north of Two Harbors. While I’m on Skyline Drive pswith5 (Pete) calls to say that he and his two brothers, who are on their way for an afternoon entry at Sawbill, will be at Rustic Inn for lunch about noon. They have already been seated when I arrive and I join them. They order so they can get back on the road to Sawbill for today’s entry. Steve and Ginny soon arrive and we order while Pete and his brothers eat their lunch. We all have a brief but enjoyable lunch meeting.

I drive north after lunch to Sawtooth Outfitters in Tofte to pick up my permit and a Bell Rockstar, then on to Superior Ridge Resort for the night. The room is very nice and I organize gear and clothing, review maps and notes, and generally prepare for tomorrow’s entry at Kawishiwi Lake.

I do a few final things after dinner and go to bed before late – it’s a long drive out to EP #37 and I want to be on the water early.
