Adventure in Quetico

We move out of camp and hit the two portages Kashipiwi. Along the way we see another group they are coming up the stream from Kashpipiwi while we are walking the portage. Sort of neat how that worked out so neither gets in the others way. I hope they got the nice site on Trant and treated it well.
Finally we get to Kashipiwi and as we turn to get to the main lake we see a bear swimming from an island camp to shore. I tell my wife to dig in and she tells me "Are you craz that's a bear". I wanted to get close enough to get a good picture when he got out of the water, but it was not to be. He looked to be around a 100#--looke dlike a big black lab. Probably just a little over ayear old. We checked out the island and it was full of blueberries, explains why the bear had gone to it. The camp it self looked pretty sparse and had not been used in awhile.
We work our way down the lake catching a few 3-5# lakers, then checked out the old fire tower--which is now a radio tower.
There is a helicoptor pad in the back with a huge blue berry patch. After hiking up the hills where the tower is we head towards the southeast arm of Kashipiwi to camp. We find a few walleyes to fool, but when I decide to keep one Sara hooks the lure on the net but doesn't net the fish. Then she lifted the net out of the water---the walleye quickly shook the hooks and went back to the depths. I guess a walleye fry was not on the menu. Sara makes some hashbrowns with cheese, while I play in the fire. Tommorrow we head to North BAy to our last camp.
