kahshahpiwi-kawnipi-k'agnes loop. the drops of rain tour, 2012
by kanoes
per usual, it rained all night.
destination today...somewhere on agnes.
there were 2 beautiful portages on the west agnes entry. rapids right along the trail.
we did a fair amount of portage clearing today. that irwin saw really is perfect for that task.
we fought another strong headwind today, all the way to agnes and while on her. we take an island site 3 miles south of the portage landing.
there is a funny, goofy spruce grouse here. we think ken set up his lean on this guys strutting ground. i named him bruce. bruce the spruce....grouse. he puts on quite a show for us. flying past our heads, flairing tail feathers, wing drumming. great entertainment!
we were able to get camp set before yet another steady rain settled in. its now 7pm and has been raining since 3.
a tarp really is one invaluable piece of gear.
its deceiving sitting in this protected camp. you get the feeling its calm out but all you need to do is walk east a little to the shoreline and see the main lake...its still rockin and rollin.
dan is reading a book of verses. he is suppose to find some to use for their vows when he weds his lovely lisa. i suggested one...."I do. LETS SCREW!" dan laughed.
