Day 6 of 10
Friday, June 24, 2011 It is a beautiful morning! After 5 wet, cool days this is soooo wonderful We swim and fish and soak up the sunshine. And I have a unique experience. I know that I left notes in the jar in the early 1980's but I remember a glass jar, or at least I think I do. But now there are thousands of notes and I am losing interest when halfway through one I realize it is my writing and I get shiver down my spine. It is my 22 year old stoner self talking to my 51 year old father of a 22 year old now self. I evidently wrote that I and my buddy Scott paddled there in one day with only loincloths, buck knifes and shrooms. And I signed it "The primitive men" The girls loved reading all the notes and after a lazy morning we paddled back to Veron as clouds gathered over us. The rain held off and we took a long unused site on the north shore. We didn't like the exposure of the island sites. The girls took me out fishing and I lost A huge walleye after getting it up to the boat three times. A really peaceful evening.
