Basswood to Iron Light NE wind the next day heading into Basswood Falls. 320 rod portage was not a big deal by this time – a nice break from the water! It is amazing how the body becomes “hardened” after only a few days.  We made our way through the river system and other canoers enjoying the various rapids and falls in the area. Sunny and warm conditions. The wind gradually picked up from the west. Saw the pictographs on Crooked, and headed for the corner. The wind was pretty steady at this point and did not let up. Made for a very tough day, but we battled it to Curtain Falls, and then a little further to Iron lake where we camped. Our fatigue made a rocky, uneven campsite sufficient. Caught some fish off the rocky point, and slept solidly with the Bottle Portage Rapids crashing to our NE.
