Yeah, it got cold alright! Having no wind made it comfortable. It’s real quiet here and I love having coffee on mornings like this. The loons can be heard out on the lake. It’s supposed to be clear and breezy today so I’m not in much hurry right now.

My plan is to portage into huge Agnes Lake and take that for miles going south before camping on Sunday Lake. I hit the water with the sun out and blue skies. The short portage into Agnes has shallow rocky landings that are difficult to deal with.

I’m soon paddling on Agnes and the headwind gets stronger and stronger as the miles go by. This is taking a lot of energy fighting the wind but I press on with no other real choice. It never white caps and I’m able to stay near shore and hide behind points and islands to get out of the breeze. We stop at a little spit of flat rock on a peninsula for lunch.

Agnes is a very scenic lake with clear water and I enjoyed looking down at all the sunken timber and big boulders as I paddled the shore. Some nice beaches too. I would have taken pics but would lose momentum due to the wind so I just press on.

I meet a couple of young guys at the Meadows Lake portage. Then realize there’s four more people on the portage going the same way as myself. It’s the parents and their son and daughter in law. I would spend the next two long portages chatting with them as we worked. Luna initially barks but warms up to them quickly and soon makes fast friends and gets her hugs and pets. It’s nice to have this company on the trails.

These two Meadows portages are long and rocky. After the wind battle on Agnes I’m done in and ready to camp. I get on Sunday Lake and cross the bay to a real beauty of a site on the east side at a small peninsula.

The fireplace is messed up real good so I set out to rebuild it. Unfortunately I grab some large rocks near the fireplace and find human feces under two of them. Not good. I’m pretty disgusted at whoever was here last. It's hard to fathom who would do that at the edge of the main camp area.

I eat dinner of Freeze dried turkey and again share it with the last of Luna’s food. Tomorrow I really need a big fish dinner for both of us. Luna takes her nap in the trees. It’s going to be clear and cold again tonight. Tomorrow sunny and 70’s! I’m laying over here and plan to fish seriously.
