Got an early start and promptly went the wrong way on the lake. I turned around after 15 minutes of wasted time when the islands didn’t match to my map. I generally don’t use a compass and I paid the price this time. So, on through Trant Lake then a short hop through Hurlburt got me to the portage to Woodside Lake.

I had pre-arranged to meet up with a fellow solo canoeist on Woodside on this day. I’ve known Rich AKA “Pine Knot” for 5 or 6 years from the message boards we’re on. Would he be there? I get on Woodside and paddle towards the island campsite. I can see colors and someone walking around the beach by a canoe. Sure enough it’s Rich. He beat me by fifteen minutes!
