Sunday, July 01, 2018 Moving Day, onward to slough #2

As we completely fished the slough by our initial campsite and found only a handful of pike at the mouth and another handful at the very end of the slough where a small creek entered, we decided to start making our way downriver to the next slough.

On the way out right at the mouth of the slough, my son caught his personal best northern pike which went 42.5” and 16.5 lbs. We caught a few smaller ones, then start a long hard paddle downriver. Normally downriver is easy paddling, but we were fighting a stiff wind with some whitecaps blowing upriver for a good portion of the journey.

A highlight of the day was watching a moose swim across the river in front of our canoes.
