Day 6 of 10
Wednesday, August 30, 2017 Travelling from North end of Agnes to South end today. Sunny and breezy during a breakfast of biscuits and gravy......and the wind is from the NORTH!! Yeah baby! We crossed over to west bank right away to take in all the pictographs. The lake looked hazy and you could smell a little smoke. Must be some fires in Canada to our north. We didn't have to paddle much with north wind, so we floated and trolled down the west bank and caught some fish and viewed the pictos and petroglyph. The wind got rocking and it was a little dicey crossing back over to take the back east channel. It got a little quieter back in there as we paddled down through those rocky, rugged valleys and took a site just north of the island with the pictos. Nice site on a little nipple of a point. Site is flat but has a steep hill behind it. After camp was set and we chilled a while. We gathered up the "kanoes memorabilia" and held a small service and shared some memories and laughs....and tears. Then we took his bag of ashes and paddled off to a west facing cliff and crawled up it placing them where he will forever watch sunsets over Lake Agnes. Back at camp, we shared a few man hugs, gathered our emotions and cooked up some personal pan pizzas in Kips frybake oven. The wind settled down and it was a quiet, gorgeous night.
