Back Again

Morning brought dry weather, but overcast looking like it could rain any minute. We ate breakfast, got things packed and headed out as Snipe Lake being our target. The lakes we traveled were like glass as there was no wind to be found. Travel was easy, as we paddled and portaged, until finally the clouds decided to open up. We just finished our portage onto Snipe and started to paddle as lighting was now showing up, and a down pour was instore. We high tailed it to the closest campsite hoping it was vacant. We were in luck. We stopped at campsite #556, put up the bugout and had lunch as we waited out the rain. We hunkered down for about an hour and a half. As the rain let up, we traveled around Snipe finding the site of our choice occupied. This led us to tackle one more portage and move on to Missing Link Lake. We thought why not make tomorrow an easy out. Our decision payed off. We found an amazing site #548 and spent the night as the only people on the lake. The sun came out as we were setting up camp and had an almost perfect night. We had our tent and bugout set up on top of the rocks overlooking the lake. We enjoyed our views and even slept with the rainfly off the tent and enjoyed the perfect star filled night. Today showed us how the BWCA weather can quickly change. We went from a downpour morning to a warm sunny afternoon. What a great spot for our final night in the Boundary Waters.
