A couple of followup and additions:
1) Groups have not been changed relative to their privacy setting selected by the person who setup the group. Canoeing with Kids and many of the groups were created as public groups by whoever set them up and were viewable by anyone through this page: Groups page. If the group was selected as public viewable, it was available to the public for preview (and google).
2) I have dialed back the trip reports so only new trip report not follow on chatter are brought into the listening point forum. It is great to see all the new trip reports. Maybe they belong in the Trip Planning forum? we thought they would be more appreciated then a baseball or football thread.

We also added a new feature to the maps to copy the map url for the exact center and zoom level you moved to. You will see the blue button above the map. Example for posting or sending a link zoomed into a certain campsite:

Jaywalker: "I don't see the WCPP group anymore. It was not busy, but helped me think bigger than the BW. Could it not be lumped in with the Q group as the Paddle Canada group? Or am I just missing it? " It’s there.

Jackfish: "tumblehome: "Not a fan of the trip reports in the listening point. " Tom, just curious what you don't like about having the trip reports also posting in the Listening Point. They're still in the Trip Report forum, but now they get seen more often and are more likely to be read."
For me, I have to pick out the non-trip report threads. There are a lot of trip reports showing up and they clog the listening point forum. This is just my opinion and I'm not complaining. It's hard to keep everyone happy. I guess it feels cluttered now. Tom

I kinda agree with Tom on this one, but it isn’t terrible... But even a bulletin between threads saying there are new trip reports or items for sale or whatever... Whew, went and fought a fire after I typed that... time to send this... haha!

Love the layout of the message boards. Not a fan of the trip reports in the listening point. Not complaining, but complaining. :)

So are the private groups like canoeing with kids now public and searchable on google? If so I need to edit a few posts with my kids names in them

I found this post on page 3. So is the private forums now public and viewable from google without logging in?

WCPP " Ah, yes. The conversion seems to have knocked me out of that group so it wasn't showing up in my list. I just had to re-join and all is good again.

We made a couple changes to the site recently:
1) We are including trip reports posting in the listening point forum to support better awareness of new trip reports.
2) The default basemap has been changed to use USGS Topographic. This has more detail of islands/lakes.
3) We include on main forums listing other groups which are active and you may be interested in. Also we did away with the the "Private Group" as the interesting ones are public.

Nice I like both the changes. The private groups I didn't even know existed anyways.

I agree too. It's a pain / the trip reports clog up this listening point forum. People know where the trip reports are and if they want to read them they can go to that area to read them.
