The DNR stocked musky's in east pike lake many years ago , there maybe some natural breeding as i have heard of some people actually hooking into some , last survey of 2002 did net a 40-44" musky , otherwise i dont think there's many other choices in the BWCA

+1 East Pike is the only lake that has ever been stocked for Muskie and they stopped that a long time ago. I’d agree that Vermillion is probably your best shot.

I wish I would have taken a picture but I am pretty sure I caught a Tiger Muskie on Knife Lake. Was fishing off a rock face and this fish followed the lure right up and took it at the last second. My friend I was with said he thought it might be a muskie, I didn't think much of it because I thought it was just a northern except it had a horizontal stripe pattern. Was fairly small but who knows!

I hooked a musky on East Pike Lake. Lost it right by the boat when I bent down to get my net and gave a bit of slack and got sliced off. Saw it decently well. Was over 36" and fought like only a musky can do. Prob was circa 2006. Darn it!

" thats interesting scat , from what i've read , musky's were only stocked in 1977 , DNR did net a 24lb in 2002 and you caught that one , tells me there is definitely natural breeding going on.
as far as musky in Knife lake ? i guess anything is possible with all the waterways and other natural occurrences , but i'd have to see it to believe it, especially a tiger !
pic of a pike with some good stripes .
