Canoe or boat? Whenever my brother suggests going to basswood I say hell no. As a canoeist I don’t want to deal with motor boats. That said there is excellent fishing in basswood.

Yes it is hard to get a permit. Maybe the most desired permits. Try for motor over night.


Yes it is worth it. Basswood is a big lake and can be tough to fish.
Be prepared for weather and wind. Or it could be 80 and sunny.

We are taking a motor. We have the fall lake entry a year ago. Lots of fun, but a lot of work.
