We have thoughts to fish basswood going through prairie portage on fishing opener. Is the fishing worth it on that side of the lake that time of the year? Also is it hard to get a permit for this entry point. Thanks for any information

Canoe or boat? Whenever my brother suggests going to basswood I say hell no. As a canoeist I don’t want to deal with motor boats. That said there is excellent fishing in basswood.

We are taking a motor. We have the fall lake entry a year ago. Lots of fun, but a lot of work.

Yes it is hard to get a permit. Maybe the most desired permits. Try for motor over night.

Yes it is worth it. Basswood is a big lake and can be tough to fish.
Be prepared for weather and wind. Or it could be 80 and sunny.
