The water flow in the falls chain area is slow moving so it really doesn't matter which direction you take first. But, as others have stated, you're probably entering at Cache Bay so you'll be going downstream all the way to Kawnipi.

My paddling buddy did this route two consecutive years, he liked it so much. The Falls Chain to Kawnipi, then down Agnes to Louisa Falls, and up Louisa Lake and back to the Falls Chain, then back to Cache Bay on the Falls Chain. If you like the route half as much as he did, you'll have a great time.

Planning a trip next year. Do you do the loop counter clockwise or clockwise. Guessing coming down falls is easier than doing it first. I am planning 12 to 14 days so we can explore agnes as well.

Up thru Louisa via McEwen chain is stunning.

Twelve days is enough to do the Falls Chain-Kawnipi-Agnes-Louisa loop. Seems to be, but not sure how accurate trip planner is on miles. Thanks

You can easily do the loop in 8 days.

I did the Man chain-Falls chain-McEwen chain cutoff and out thru Louisa/Agnes and back to PP in (3) 8hr paddle days and (1) 5hr paddle day so 29 travel hours.

The McEwen chain is slow going in comparison to paddling some of the larger bodies of water IE Kawa and Agnes given favorable wind conditions due to all of the portages.

Sounds like a 6 day trip to me

The Maligne river flows west, so going down the chain would be doing the falls first.

Thanks seems that would be the way to go then. Seen some people go to mack lake first. Was hoping to go that longer portage later when I have lightened the food pack lol
