by cowdoc

Trip Type: Paddling Canoe
Entry Date: 08/25/2017
Entry & Exit Point: Quetico
Number of Days: 10
Group Size: 4
Trip Introduction:
After Kanoes funeral, Jan's family gave Kiporby a small bag of Jan's ashes and asked that he go canoeing with his friends one last time and then come to rest in some wonderful place in canoe country. It took a year for us (Kiporby, Suncatcher, butthead and cowdoc) to align our schedules and organize a trip. We decided on the Falls Chain to Kawnipi, drop down to Agnes...a favorite of Kanoes.....and then work our way back to Cache Bay. Lots of photos and not much writing in this report and they are all in order as we encountered them on the trip. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Hard to take a bad shot on the Falls Chain. Enjoy and remember kanoes...RIP....April 29, 2016.
Day 1 of 10
Friday, August 25, 2017 I finished packing all my gear the night before and stacked it in the garage. Kiporby picked me up at O'dark-thirty and we headed out on our 10 hour drive to Seagull Outfitters where we would rendezvous with butthead and Suncatcher. We stopped at Voyageur Brewing in Grand Marais for a bite to eat, enjoy a brew while looking out over the big lake and fill some growlers. Then it was up the trail to Seagull, meet the guys and finish our packing details. Just about had the bunkhouse to ourselves.
