I will, however, disagree to a point with your assessment of reflector ovens. The one I built is quick to set up and leave together for the duration of our base camp and we have never felt the need to clean it. It's the angles, not the mirror quality of the surfaces, which does the baking magic. The main reason I hesitate to bring it: One More Thing. It's a bit on the heavy side due to the free pieces provided to me being a thicker gauge than necessary. |

Pita Pizza Use the thick, doughy pita shells Fold one in half squirt in pizza sauce from the plastic squeeze bottle add bacon crumbles (real bacon) add pepperoni slices peel off strings of pre-wrapped individual mozzarella string cheese and put in pita add pieces of pre-wrapped individual cheddar snack sticks (for first 3 days of trip) season to taste wrap the folded, stuffed pita in aluminum foil, making sure there are no holes and that it is rolled up tight on the edges place in the coals, and keep flipping every 2-3 minutes. Don't let it discolor on the outside, as it can burn inside without showing it on the outside Remove from coals with tongs or a couple of sticks. Open and enjoy. Burn as much of the foil as possible, and pack out what's left in the morning. |
