Nice pics everyone...hobbydog some great shots there, keep em coming. I have a few more...

As hobbydog said it is hard to pick one but I like this cuz it is sharp and different from most loon shots. Taken from a distance with a long zoom...

I just carry a point and shoot camera in my front pocket on canoe trips (am working on changing that next trip) but this is the best I could do without getting too close to mama loon on the nest on Omega Lake a few years ago.

Just checked in our Sierra Nevada field guide. I'm pretty sure you are on to something. Its not a barn owl like most we have around here. The book says its a Western Screech Owl. Don't know the difference between the Eastern and Western, or if there is a difference. Thanks for the correction. Larry "

Hey, no problem. I didn't mean to have it sound like I was correcting you; in fact, I didn't know where you were located. We both learned something.......great shot!!!!

My father-in-law with his pet turkeys. They stayed in a cage at night and in the morning he would go down open the cage. The turkeys would get in the jeep for the ride up to the house. At the end of the day he would open the jeep door, turkeys would get in for the ride back to the cage for the night. Really!!

Tell me when to stop...I guess I had more "decent" bird photos than I thought. I camp, hike and explore a lot in Northern MN and the BWCA. Living in a southern suburb of the Twin Cities, I think I get more and better bird shots hiking the natural areas around here than I do up North. All of these were taken at Lebanon Hills Regional Park or Fort Snelling State Park.

If I had to choose between listening and seeing sandhill cranes I would choose listening, especially when you are surrounded by the sound. There are a lot of them around my cabin but they are a very shy bird and can be hard to get close to.

I find bird photography to be very challenging but I enjoy it. Let's see your best bird shots, songbirds to raptors, hummingbirds to waterfowl.

After I started looking, I have a lot of bird photos...more to come. Comments/critiques welcome.

It is, female ruby throat. It was shot through my dirty front window, it was probably 3 feet from the window. It was sitting in a bush next to a feeder. I cropped the photo, so you could see the bird.
